My Opinion:

This is one fun cookbook.
It is full of great recipes for little pies, both sweet and savory that are, as the title tells you, mini. It’s a great way to serve pie for a crowd or just to have smaller servings available at home.

The book is set up quite smartly; at the beginning you have the recipes for all the different doughs used for the various recipes. There are photo tutorials for the various techniques used for easy referral. The pictures are clear and free of clutter. Then a section on different toppings.

The recipes are quite varied and delightfully easy to follow. There are yummy, unexpected twists too; in the strawberry hand pies basil is added for a taste that one would not ordinarily find in a strawberry pie, but the herb works so very well with the sweet/tart fruit.

There are mini pot pies, hand pies, mini galettes and more so there is a wide variety of choices for your entry into the world of mini pies. The recipes state if they are GF Friendly which means they can be easily made gluten free or are vegan so that anyone looking through can find these treats to suit dietary needs.

There are many I’m looking forward to trying. If I had one complaint with the book it would be that I’d want to see more photos. I’m always one for lots of pictures in a cookbook but I know they are expensive to include.

I made some mini calzones and you can see how good they look

They were yummy!
