I received a gift code to shop at for my honest review.

I have oft told the tale here on the blog of my move from our house to the trailer and our travels around the country. A big part of that move was downsizing from a rather large Victorian house into a 400 sq.ft. rolling home. It was challenging. Everything I picked to go into that tin can had to serve more than one purpose or I couldn’t afford to give up valuable space to it. My biggest heartbreaks came in my kitchen; I had every gadget and appliance you could imagine. I left with my pots and my KitchenAid.  It’s been a slow process to rebuild my kitchen to where I would like it to be but thanks to the wide array of products at I’m a little bit closer.

Let me first say that gives you shopping options from Home Decor to Outdoor Lighting to Clothing and much, much more. I spent more time than I care to admit surfing through the site trying to decide what to purchase with my gift code. But me being me and loving to cook the way I do it was the Cooking and Dining section that called my name. I didn’t have a crock pot and I had been looking for one so this seemed to be the perfect opportunity to acquire one. I went to the Small Kitchen Appliances link, then to the Convection Ovens and Cookers and I soon found a myriad of options from which to choose.

I didn’t need a huge Crock Pot since it’s just the hubby and myself so I chose the Cuisinart 3.5 Quart Programmable Stainless Steel Slow Cooker. I picked this one for several reasons; it has four temperatures and you can program it to start and stop at given times. I also have great faith in Cuisinart as a brand.

Ordering was a breeze and I had no sooner finished on the site than I had an email confirmation. Shipping dates were sent in short order. It arrived sooner than promised which is always a wonderful thing.

It arrived in perfect condition and I couldn’t wait to get it out of its box.

It looks just like the photo on the site! Only this one is in my kitchen. Yay! Now what to make first? It came with a cookbook so I thought I’d try one of the recipes from it –

Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic*

2 pounds chicken thighs (about 8 – 10), skinless, bone in
1 tsp herbes de Provence
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
3/4 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/2 TBSP fresh lemon juice
3 tsp extra virgin olive oil
cooking spray
40 cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 celery rib, sliced
1/2 cup sliced onion and/or shallots
1/4 cup whiter vermouth or dry white wine
3 TBSP chicken stock
freshly chopped parsley

In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs, herbes de Provence, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, lemon juice and olive oil.  Lightly coat the interior of the ceramic pot of the Cuisinart Slow Cooker with cooking spray.

Layer seasoned chicken, garlic, celery (I didn’t have celery so I used some carrot greens that I had in the freezer) and onions in pot.  Pour in wine and chicken stock.

Cover and press the On/Off button to turn the unit on. Set time to 8 hours and press Low; Slow Cooker will automatically switch to warm when cooking time has elapsed.

Serve with chopped parsley for garnish.

*Thank you to the Cuisinart Slow Cooker recipe book for this recipe.

Now, I can tell you that the yurt smelled like HEAVEN while this was cooking. I was really looking forward to it for dinner that night.
This was the night that the West Mullen fire started in Superior.
This was the night that the hubby called and asked me to put together food for his men.
This was the night that my Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic went to the firemen.
They all said it was delicious. It all disappeared.
I didn’t even have time to take a photo of the finished dish.

I will make it again sometime so that I get to taste it. I’m just glad that I chose THAT night to make a big crockpot full of food! was a great place to shop for my spiffy new crockpot. They had a lot of other great products that caught my eye when I was deciding what to pick so I’m sure I’ll be back there shopping again; especially since the service was so great. Christmas shopping season is NOT that far away people…..
