Before we know it the weather will be changing and fall will be here. This year has gone by so quickly even though there is so much going on. Today I wanted to share with you how to make the perfect Chocolate Mousse.

Chocolate Mousse is my total favorite when it comes to a dessert because it is light and airy. Getting that perfect texture does not have to be hard. Below you will find full directions on how to make your family this amazing dessert.

Chocolate Mousse is something that as a family we make a lot of. It is simple and so good. Honestly, I am not much of a chocolate lover (really), but because this mousse is light and the texture is something to drool over, this is something that I adore to make and eat.

We actually make a Chocolate Mousse for a variety of occasions including gatherings with family, holiday’s, and just because. Everyone just loves it. One way you can make it special for your family is to make a Mousse Bar. Include all kinds of toppings that you guests or family can add to their own Chocolate Mousse.

How To Make The Perfect Chocolate Mousse

For this recipe you will need a few things. I have included a printable recipe below

Ingredients:

[cboxarea id="cbox-IVEtmKHDExiTjpDi"]

  • 2½ c. heavy cream, divided
  • 8 oz. high-quality semi-sweet chocolate chips or baking chocolate
  • ¼ c. granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs

Optional: 1 t. orange zest, preferably organic*

*Tip: The orange zest adds a really nice pop of flavor to this recipe

Optional, to serve:

Whipped cream, maraschino cherries, and/or mandarin orange slices

Directions:
Heat 1 cup of heavy cream with chocolate chips over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until chips have melted. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, beat eggs and sugar with a hand-held mixer at medium speed for 3-minutes.

While mixing on the same setting as above, slowly add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture. Stir in the orange zest, if using. Once combined, pour back into the pan used to melt the chocolate. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.

Remove from heat and cool slightly before transferring to the refrigerator to chill for 2 hours.

Once chilled, whip the remaining heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the chilled chocolate into the whipped cream until thoroughly combined. The mixture should have a fluffy consistency.

To serve, spoon chocolate mousse into a piping bag and pipe into small dessert dishes. Top with whipped cream and maraschino cherries or mandarin oranges, if desired. Enjoy!

What I love about Chocolate Mousse is that the toppings are endless. One favorite of mine is mandarin oranges.

The flavors go perfectly together. I do hope that you check out this amazing Chocolate Mousse recipe and look out for more amazing desserts coming soon. We do have a ton of other recipes in our recipe section. enjoy.
