There are not a lot of In-N-Out vegan options, but this post will guide you through the ones there are.

In-N-Out is a fast food restaurant on the west side of the United States that was started in California. They serve burgers, french fries, milkshakes, and soda.

Before I was vegan I loved getting the grilled cheese, fries, and a chocolate shake. Then I went vegan and I didn’t know what to get here anymore.

They don’t have a veggie patty or vegan burgers, like an impossible burger or beyond meat, but I have found that they do have a couple of vegan options on their menu.

1. French Fries

In-N-Out’s fries are cooked in sunflower oil and no meat products go into the fryer. I have always loved how fresh and perfect their french fries are! They’re my favorite fast food fries.

2. Veggie with modifications

If you just order a veggie, it will not be vegan. You can make some changes for it to be vegan though. I make it so it’s just tomato and onion wrapped in lettuce.

This can be a little tricky to order, so I always check that it was made right. It used to never be made correctly, but I finally figured out the best way to order it and now it’s almost always right.

Here’s what you’ll order- a veggie with no spread, add onion, and protein style.

Their spread sauce has dairy and eggs in it. Protein style means that it will be wrapped in lettuce instead of being put on a bun. I previously heard from Peta2 that the bun has casein it, but I have not been able to confirm this. I stay away from the bun just to be safe.

You can add ketchup and/or mustard to your fries and your modified veggie.

Hopefully one day In-N-Out will come out with more plant based options for us vegans, like a veggie burger.
