Making a Summer Candy Buffet is Easy with Celebration by Frey

There is nothing sweeter at a party than a candy buffet – no pun intended. How much fun is it to be presented with table full of chocolate and other sweet treats that you can eat to your heart’s content? It sure is a delightful way to celebrate any party and Celebration by Frey has what you need to make your event sparkle – or perhaps I should say shimmer. The Sixlets® and Gumballs come in a variety of different colors to coordinate with your party’s theme and I must admit that I am quite partial to the beautiful shimmer found on some of the colors – it makes the candies so special.

Are you planning a baby shower – you could use Sixlets in beautiful pink and powder blue as your starting point. Favors can be made by putting the Sixlets in food safe bags and tying them with ribbons in complementary colors. You could even bake a “reveal” cake using the appropriate color candies.

Or maybe I am putting the baby before the carriage as they say. Are you planning a bridal shower? How about white Sixlets in lovely organza bags in the wedding colors. I don’t know about you but I love a shower favor that serves a purpose beyond the decorative and delicious Sixlets candy coated chocolate is always a good choice. I love those little rounds; the satisfying crack of the coating followed by the chocolaty finish. Mmm, mmm, mmmm!

Imagine the fun of a color scheme using Sixlets in bright summer colors. I put yellow, lime green and blue in a quart sized mason jar and see how happy they look! For party favors you could go the more traditional bag route or maybe go a bit fancier with mini mason jars filled with those delicious chocolate Sixlets.

As summer moves towards fall you can look to the warmer colors of that season like shimmer orange and shimmer green. Your imagination can take you wherever you want to go with all of the shades available. Not just Sixlets either, the gumballs and candy pearls come in a myriad of colors as well. It’s like a candy rainbow that you can present to your guests for whatever reason you might be celebrating.

I used some tasty Sixlets in a simple recipe that would be perfect for any summer party – for any party when you get down to it. It was simple to make and uses basic pantry staples. The Sixlets would also be an excellent cookie add-in; they impart a rich, chocolaty taste to whatever you bake. I also love that they maintain their integrity when used in a baked good. They don’t melt into your cookie or cake which is wonderful.

Sixlets® Blondies

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups Sixlets in any color, divided

Preheat oven to 350°
Line an 8 x 8″ pan with parchment paper and butter the parchment.
In a stand mixer with the paddle attached cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, one at a time beating well after each egg.
Add the vanilla.
Add the flour, salt and baking soda and mix until just combined.

Add 1 cup of the Sixlets and fold into the batter.
Add the batter to the prepared pan and even out and smooth the top.
Sprinkle 1/4 cup of Sixlets over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35 – 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
Dot the top with the remaining 1/4 cup of Sixlets pressing them gently into the top.

Let cool completely on a wire rack.
Cut into 1″ pieces

These are delightfully rich little cookies/cakes. You really don’t need a big piece to be satisfied. I think they’d be awesome with a cold glass of milk. Or a hot cup of black coffee. Mmmmm.

But let’s get back to summer party planning. You can put together a very on trend candy buffet with the delicious treats available at Celebration by Frey just like I did. I’ve got Sixlets, Gumballs and my delicious home baked Blondies all ready for guests to arrive.
