For The Frosting

  • shortening
  • butter
  • salt
  • powdered sugar

How Do You Make This Fall Trea?

  1. Beat the shortening, egg, and sugar until combined 
  2. Mix in the vanilla salt baking powder and maple syrup 
  3. Mix in the flour until dough forms
  4. Knead the dough, roll it a few times, then chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or more
  5. Use parchment paper to line cookie sheet
  6. Make a quarter of an inch thick balls of dough 
  7. Smash them a little bit flat 
  8. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F 
  9. Bake for 15 minutes then let them rest
  10. Make the frosting by combining all ingredients in a bowl and beating until smooth
  11. Spread on chilled cookies with a spatula or use a piped frosting bag to duplicate Crumbl style swirls
