Valentine’s Day Crafts for Kids Made From Paper Plates
Valentine’s Day is one of the holidays throughout the year that children love to make crafts as a way of celebrating the holiday. Some of the Valentine’s Day crafts for kids that can be made in order to celebrate this holiday of love are very inexpensive to create because the media that is used for them are common household items.
Valentines Day Crafts for Kids Made From Paper Plates
One great household item that can be used for a variety of different crafts to celebrate Valentine’s Day is paper plates. These are just a few fun ideas of crafts that can be created for Valentine’s Day using paper plates.
Valentine’s Wreath
These cute wreaths can be made to give as a gift to a loved one or used on the child’s own bedroom door to help celebrate Valentine’s Day.

The materials that will be needed to create a Valentine’s Day wreath are:
- paper plates
- glue
- construction paper (red, pink, purple and white)
- scissors
- hole punch
- glue.
Cut hearts of various sizes out of the four colors of construction paper.
Fold a paper plate in half and cut circle out of the middle of the paper plate to give a wreath shaped canvas.
Cover what is left of the paper plate with a light coat of glue and allow children to cover the plate with hearts until none of the paper plate is showing.
Allow this to dry.
Once the wreath is dry, use hole punch and punch two holes into the wreath to string yarn through to create a hanger for the wreath.
Valentine Card Holder
Many classrooms celebrate Valentine’s Day by passing out Valentine’s cards to their classmates.
These simple Valentine’s card holders can be made in a classroom so that the children have an organized way of transporting their cards home.
The materials that are needed to create a Valentine holder are:
- two paper plates
- stapler,
- scissors
- glue
- items to decorate the holder with
First you will cut one of the paper plates in half. F
lip this over so that the puffy side is up and allow children to decorate the paper plate with crayons, construction paper or whatever they would like to decorate it with.
Then allow them to decorate the top half of the other paper plate.
Staple the two paper plates together with the flat sides facing each other.
This will create a pocket that their Valentine’s cards can be slipped into.
Heart Shaped Candy Holder
These are a great way for children to carry home their sweet treats from a Valentine’s Day party.
To make these candy holders the materials required are:
- two paper plates
- scissors
- paint
- glue
Allow children to paint their paper plates and allow them to dry.
Once the paper plates are dry, glue them together facing each other.
Next, cut a V-shaped cut out of the top of the plates to make them look like a heart.
Candy can then be slipped into the holders.
