As per usual the hubby needed a treat for a meeting. He told me cookies would probably be best so I went to my cookbooks but nothing really struck me. Then I started thinking about my favorite cookies but I didn’t have any chocolate chips on hand so I thought of another favorite – snickerdoodles. I made a batch of  the traditional cinnamon flavor and then I thought about adding some cocoa to the batter. That is how I came up with chocolate snickerdoodles. I mean it makes sense – chocolate and cinnamon go very well together.

How Were the Chocolate Snickerdoodles?

These will hold well if stored in an airtight container. Although around here they didn’t last long enough to need storing. Chocolate and cinnamon is a classic flavor combination and this was a lovely little cookie. Crunchy on the outside and just a little bit chewy in the center.

The vanilla helped to bring out the flavor of the chocolate and sugar in the raw added a nice it of texture. This adaptation to a classic cookie recipe will now be a permanent part of my treat rotation with Cornmeal Orange Cookies and Chewy Molasses Crinkles
