Fun Ways to Spend Time with the Kids

One of life’s simplest joys is spending time with the family. It’s especially the case when you get children in the mix and as they get older and more interactive with you.

You’re going to have so much more fun going out for a movie and pizza afterwards becomes one of those traditional monthly occasions with the kids.

There are so many ways that you can spend time together as a family, so what we’ve done today is put together a list of some of those things you could be doing to have a lot of fun and get them off their screens for a change.

1. Go through your photos.

Connecting with your roots and sharing family history is a great way to spend time with the kids, especially those that are in their teens, taking out the old photos from when you were a child that have been kept in storage. Is a good way to show them who you were once.

Talk about every picture, who’s in it, where was it taken, why is it special?

They get to build a picture of who you were before they came about.

From here, you can create a family album, especially if you include pictures with your children from when they were babies.

2. Plan a DIY movie night.

You should never let a bit of rain or even a thunderstorm stop you from having a family fun night.

Movies at home are just different because you get to curl up in your pajamas and be a little bit more creative.

You can whip up some homemade popcorn with personalized toppings and you can even print out fake tickets if you want to.

If you add to that cooking pizza together, especially from a recipe you found online, you’ll create a take out and movie night without even having to leave the house.

3. Have a family talent show.

This one’s about being silly together, and nobody actually has to have any talent. You could pretend to juggle, play an instrument, or even put on a funny comedy skit. Kids would love the idea of pulling magic tricks and telling jokes on a makeshift stage.

You can use a blanket or a curtain, and you can let the kids decorate the space of handmade drawings.

You should encourage costumes, props, or anything else they can think of to make it fun.

Record the performances with a camcorder on a tripod and they’ll get the full authentic experience.

4. Host your own family Bake Off.

Whatever country you’re living in, Bake Off is probably going to be one of the most exciting times of the year, so cooking as a family can be fun.

A family Bake Off is a great way to spend time together and enjoy a tasty reward at the end.

Pick everybody’s favorite dish or find a new recipe for all of you to try, and you can try and test it against one another to see who has the best one.

If you don’t want to make it competitive, simply get everybody to choose a dish, bake it up in a day, and you can sit and use the food for movie night.
