Homemade Pumpkin Dog Treats Your Pup Will Love

When fall rolls around and pumpkin everything starts showing up, why should our pups be left out of the fun? These homemade peanut butter pumpkin dog treats are one of my favorite seasonal goodies to whip up. They’re healthy, easy, and honestly pretty adorable—plus my dog goes absolutely wild for them!

Why Pumpkin Dog Treats Are So Great

Pumpkin is packed with fiber, vitamins, and natural goodness that supports digestion and overall health, making it a perfect ingredient for homemade dog snacks. Pair that with creamy peanut butter (a forever dog favorite) and hearty oat flour, and you’ve got a wholesome treat you can feel good about giving your best friend.

Seasonal, Fun, and Customizable

One of my favorite parts of making these treats is choosing the shapes. Cookie cutters turn a simple dough into something extra fun. I used two sizes of a gingerbread boy cutter, and they came out so cute—little gingerbread “pup cookies” in big and small versions. You can use anything festive or playful: pumpkins, bones, stars, or whatever fits your pup’s personality.

  • 2 cups oat flour–you can make your own oat flour by putting oats in a food processor as well.
  • 1 cup pumpkin purée (plain, not pie filling)
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free). I didn’t have natural peanut butter on hand today, so made with regular without bad ingredients for my pup, but if you have natural peanut butter that is just peanuts and salt, that is best!
  • 1 egg (optional, helps binding)
  • ½  tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the oat flour, pumpkin purée, and peanut butter (and optional egg) until a dough forms.
  3. If using cinnamon, sprinkle it in and mix again.
  4. Roll the dough out between two pieces of parchment paper to about ¼ inch thick or use oat flour to keep dough from sticking to rolling pin.
  5. Use your favorite cookie cutters—I used two sizes of gingerbread boys—to cut out shapes.
  6. Place the shapes on a parchment-lined or cooking oil sprayed baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until firm and slightly golden.
  8. Let cool completely before giving them to your pup.

Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for long-term treats (2-3 months).
