Spiked Valentine’s Day Hot Chocolate Bombs

I have a delicious SPIKED Valentine’s Day hot chocolate bomb recipe that includes Creme De Banana liqueur. If you want to add sweetness and some alcoholic kick to your drinks, this is the recipe for you! I hope you like it :) Don’t forget this is the good stuff and should probably be served away from kids!

This is my first experience working with Creme De Banana Liqueur. It has a smooth banana flavor. The alcohol content is only 24%, so it’s not too strong or overpowering. I honestly enjoyed the taste of it and I’ll use it again.

Ingredients

Chocolate Banana Ganache

  • 1 1/2 C Semi sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ C Heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ C Creme De Banana
  • 1 wax paper lined cookie sheet

Hot Chocolate Bombs

  • 2 - 70mm Silicone Sphere Molds
  • 1 - 30oz of Ghirardelli White Chocolate melting wafers
  • 2 C of hot cocoa mix
  • 1 C mini marshmallows
  • 1 small ceramic plate heated up
  • 1 disposable piping bag
  • Valentine's Day Sprinkles
  • Dove Chocolate Hearts
  • 1 cookie sheet fitted with wax paper

Instructions

Chocolate Banana Ganache

  1. Using a small pot, heat the heavy whipping cream and creme de banana until it starts to simmer, about 4 minutes
  2. Pour the chocolate chips  into a bowl and pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips
  3. Allow to sit for 1 minute before whisking until smooth
  4. Place into the fridge for about 3 hours to harden
  5. Using a small ice cream scooper, scoop out some ganache and mold it into a ball
  6. Place onto a wax paper-lined cookie sheet and back into the fridge while you make the cocoa bombs

Hot Chocolate Bombs

  1. Using a small bowl, place ½ C of the white chocolate and set aside for later
  2. Using a heat-safe bowl, pour the white chocolate into the bowl and place it in the microwave for 45-second intervals. Make sure to stir the chocolate after each 45 seconds until completely melted and smooth
  3. Using a spoon, spoon about 1-2 tbsp of the chocolate into the mold
  4. Carefully swirl the chocolate to completely coat the inside of the mold
  5. Lightly shake the extra chocolate back into the bowl
  6. Place the coated molds into the fridge for 5-10 minutes
  7. Remove from the fridge and gently peel the silicone mold back away from the hardened chocolate shell
  8. Carefully place the mold onto the cookie sheet
  9. Repeat steps with remaining molds
  10. You should now have 8 half-sphere molds
  11. Carefully take the open side of the sphere and place it onto the warm plate to melt off the uneven edges to create a smooth edging
  12. Place the shell back onto the cookie sheet and allow the edge to harden
  13. Place the bowl set aside, into the microwave and melt using 30-45 second increments. Scoop the melted chocolate into the piping bag

Building the hot chocolate bomb

  1. Scoop about 1 tbsp of the  hot cocoa mix into the bottom of the sphere mold
  2. Place a ganache ball into the center
  3. Place about 5-8 mini marshmallows around the ganache
  4. Place the top of the shell back onto the warm plate to melt the edges for a few seconds
  5. Quickly place the melted edges onto the filled shell and gently press down
  6. Cut the tip off the piping bag and drizzle melting chocolate over the cocoa bombs
  7. Sprinkle Valentine’s Day sprinkles over the hot chocolate bomb and place a Dove chocolate heart into the center
  8. Allow to sit before enjoying in an 8oz glass of steaming milk!

Notes

Change up the sprinkles and this hot chocolate bomb will be great for any occasion.

My new spiked hot chocolate bomb might be a little more involved than the last recipe I posted. I still was able to make it and I think that this is a really nice recipe to try.

I hope you have a good Valentine’s day! Let me know in the comments below if you enjoyed this spiked Valentine’s Hot Chocolate bomb.

Remember, it won’t be long before ST. Patrick’s Day and I do have a Boozy St. Patricks Day Cocoa Bomb that is GREAT! Don’t forget about my spiked hot chocolate, it’s good ANY night!
