Clean up!

Even if you’ve been together for years, cleaning up is still an important aspect. And while it might seem like a really obvious thing to do, it’s often overlooked (especially by men!)

You want your home to be welcoming and cosy for a romantic date night in, and the first step involves decluttering and cleaning your home. Even if that means temporarily moving some furniture into another room, having a nice, clean, and cosy space to enjoy date night will make the difference.

Making the effort to clean your home for your date will also go a long way too!

Set the mood

Setting the mood is next up on your list. And, you might need to set different moods in different rooms.

For example, when you’re dining together, you’ll want it to be romantic and intimate. This might mean fresh flowers on the table, matching tableware and cutlery, and a nice bottle of your favorite drink to share.

For the bedroom, for example, you might want to opt for candles, rose petals and of course, a matching bed set. Think about what you’ll be doing with your date in each room and set the mood with lighting and accessories!

Cook something delicious

You don’t necessarily have to cook something fancy for your date night, but it should absolutely be delicious.

Depending on your relationship, you might know what your date’s favorite meal is and choose to cook that. Or, they might have mentioned in conversation that they’ve always wanted to try a certain cuisine, so you attempt to cook something you know they’d like.

Not only will the delicious smells wafting through your home be mouthwatering, but the effort to think about those little details will also go a long way with your date.

Imagine mentioning once that you wanted to try Thai food and your date cooks you a whole range of Thai food?

Yep, definitely a winner!

Decorate

For lots of people, decorating for date night might seem over the top. However, if you feel a bit disconnected from your date or want to surprise them with something nice, decorating your home is a must. Think hearts, roses, and sentimental things about your relationship.

For example, you could get some Valentines SVG images printed and dot them around your home to add even more romance to your evening. There are so many things you could go for to make things special like balloons, cookies, pillows, coasters, you name it!

Putting the effort in to make date night as special as possible is sure to win you big brownie points!

Light some candles

One of the first things that comes to mind when you think of date night is lit candles, so don’t forget to buy some!

Not only do they help with the ambience in the room, but they’re amazing when it comes to adding the right aromas to your home. And if there’s any night to get the aromas right, it’s date night.

We’re talking scented candles, oil diffusers, or even reed diffusers too. They can really help set the mood for the evening, and make for great decoration after too! Speaking of aromas, don’t forget to spritz yourself with their favorite perfume or cologne!

Set up a cozy space

Finally, if you’re really looking to spend a cozy date night at home, it’s important to set up a cozy space for you and your partner to relax in.

This might involve lots of pillows and throws on the floor to watch a movie together, or making a makeshift tent in your living room to project stars onto!

Either way, a cozy space is a must, especially if you’re looking forward to the intimate part of the night!
