Making Pita Pizzas In the Air Fryer

Among the many great recipes you can make in an air fryer, pita pizzas are one of the best. They are small enough to fit in a regular air fryer and they crisp up really nicely when prepared properly.

How Long to Cook Pita Pizzas in the Air Fryer

The length of time you cook your pizza depends on your preferences and your air fryer. I’ve found that the cooking time can vary. For this recipe, you’ll cook your pizza in the air fryer at 375° for about 6 minutes.

If you prefer a crisper crust you can go up to 10 minutes as long as you’re checking to make sure your toppings don’t burn. Also, I’ve found that my oven air fryer takes a bit longer than the standard countertop fryers. However, it’s easy to check in on this recipe if you are unsure.

Can You Air Fry Frozen Pita Pizza?

Yes, you can put frozen pitas in your air fryer. Adjust your temperature down a bit so your pita has time to heat thoroughly.

For example, for this recipe, you would adjust your temperature down to 350° and cook for about 10 minutes. This allows your pizza to heat through without burning your toppings.

Additionally, you can place your frozen pita bread in the air fryer alone to thaw before continuing on with the recipe. It should only take a minute or so to thaw completely in the air fryer.

Can I Make This Pita Pizza in a Regular Oven?

Yes! This recipe is easily made in the oven and it’s just as good. To make this pizza in the oven, set your temperature to 375° and bake it for about 12 minutes checking for a slightly crispy crust and heated toppings.

Preparing Your Pita Pizza

Making your pita pizza is so fun that you can even incorporate it into an at-home date night. The pizzas are personal sized so each person can choose their own toppings and have fun creating a masterpiece.

Ingredients for a Pita Pizza

Your pizza can be as simple or elaborate as you’d like it to be. The only ingredients you really need are the pita loaf, olive oil, pizza sauce, and cheese. Then add whatever toppings you’d like.

Preparing the Pita Bread

The key to making this pita pizza amazing is to prepare your pita bread. This is a simple, crucial step.

To prepare the bread, simply brush it with olive oil before assembling the pizza. You’ll want to coat the bottom of the bread and the edges of the top where the sauce and toppings won’t cover. This makes the bread brown and crisp beautifully in the air fryer.

Choosing Your Toppings

The topping options for your pita pizza are pretty limitless. You can go with classics or come up with new creations. Check out this article on pizza topping combinations for inspiration from some of the best recipes. For the perfect pizza, you just want to make sure that you’re not overloading the pita bread.

Since it’s fairly thick, pita bread can handle quite a few toppings. However, adding too many toppings will throw off the balance and take away from the crispness of the pizza. It may not heat thoroughly as well.

Making the Recipe Ahead of Time

Although they don’t take much time to make, you might want to prepare the pizzas ahead of time. You can make these pita pizzas in advance in several different ways.

First, you can assemble and cook the pizzas ahead of time. Then you can reheat them in the air fryer or oven for a few minutes before enjoying them.

Secondly, you can assemble the pizzas, put them in the refrigerator, and then cook them in the air fryer when you’re ready to cook and enjoy them.

Lastly, you can assemble the pizzas, wrap, and then freeze them for later. Simply take them out when you’re ready to enjoy them, and place them in the air fryer or oven and bake when you’re ready.
