Panda Express Vegan Options
Panda Express used to not have vegan options, but now they do! This post will guide you through what all of the vegan options on Panda Express’ menu are.

In February of 2019 the news were announced that Panda Express will join the ranks of fast food and fast casual places that have vegan options. Big thanks to Vegan Outreach for making this possible.

You’re probably wondering what’s vegan at Panda Express? Here are the options-
Eggplant Tofu
This dish used to contain chicken broth and animal-based seasonings, but it no longer does and is now vegan. It is only available at certain locations. It has eggplant, tofu, and red peppers in a sweet and spicy sauce.
Chow Mein
The chow mein also used to have chicken broth and animal seasonings, but it doesn’t anymore. The chow mein is a stir fry with wheat noodles, cabbage, celery, and onions.
Vegetable Spring Rolls
These have celery, cabbage, carrots, green onions, and Chinese noodles wrapped in a crispy wonton wrapper.
Super Greens
Panda Express’ super greens are a mix of broccoli, cabbage, and kale.
White Rice
The white steamed rice is a staple to get with your bowl or plate.
Brown Rice
You can get brown rice instead of white rice on your plate or bowl.
You can order these at any of their 2,000 locations.
It should be noted that Panda Express says that they do not have any vegan or vegetarian options because all of their food is prepared and cooked on the same equipment, meaning that there could be cross contamination. The ingredients they use in the above menu items are plant based though.
Panda Express is an American Chinese restaurant. They have Chinese dishes that are not totally authentic.

The last couple of years have been good to us vegans. McDonald’s made their Apple Pie vegan in Canada (source). Taco Bell is set to release new vegan menu items this year (source). Carl’s Jr rolled out the Beyond Meat Burger (source).
I’m very excited to see what other chain restaurants will do. Smart companies are watching the vegan space. In fact, “Sales of vegan foods in America in the year to June 2018 rose ten times faster than food sales as a whole.” (source)
