Recipe Notes

This is a very versatile recipe allowing for many substitutions and additions. Here are a few notes on changing things up for this recipe.

The Crust

This recipe uses refrigerated pizza dough that comes in the can for convenience. However, you can use homemade if you have a favorite recipe or even leftovers from another recipe.

You can also use other types of premade dough, like frozen or premade crusts from the grocery store.

The Sauce

This recipe uses country gravy as the “pizza sauce”. You can replace this with other types of gravy like sausage gravy.

Homemade gravy can also be used, just add 1 cup of your favorite gravy and you’ll be good to go!

The Toppings

Here are some quick notes on the toppings for this breakfast pizza:

  • Use any cheese you’d like or no cheese at all.
  • Use any kind of sausage you’d like. You can add hot sausage to spice things up a bit.
  • Add veggies like bell peppers and onions for more flavor. Mushrooms would also be a good veggie addition.

How to Make Sausage Gravy Pizza

Follow these super easy steps to make sausage and gravy breakfast pizza!

Step One

Preheat the oven to 375?. Lightly grease a 10”x15” (or similar size) sheet pan.

Step Two

First, you need to par-bake the pizza dough. Take the canned dough and unroll it in your pan.

Spread it evenly with your hands and pull it to the edges of the pan. Using your fingers, raise the crust by pressing it to the raised edges of your baking pan.

Use a fork to score (poke holes in) your dough. This will keep it from bubbling up in the oven.

Step Three

Bake the dough for about 8 minutes until it starts to firm up a bit. You’ll finish baking it later with the rest of the ingredients.

Step Four

Remove the dough from the oven and start layering your ingredients starting with the gravy. Spread the gravy onto your pizza dough evenly. Leave room at the edges for the crust.

Next, sprinkle the cheese in an even layer over the gravy. Then finish the toppings off by sprinkling the crumbled sausage over the top of the cheese.

Step Five

Return the pan to the oven and bake it for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Step Six

Remove the pizza from the oven and cut it with a pizza cutter. To make 12 slices, cut the pizza in half vertically and then in four equal sections horizontally.
