Do you want to know when a 15 year old was born? It can actually be a little tricky to find out! But don’t worry. I’ll tell you everything you need to know!

Chronological Age

First, let’s talk about chronological age. In the United States, your age starts from the second you were born. At your time of birth you were zero years, zero days, zero hours, zero minutes, and zero seconds old. It went up from there!

Until your first birthday, your age is measured by seconds, minutes, hours, days, and months. Once you have been alive for 365 days, you become one year old.

What Year Was A 15 Year Old Born?

Now, for the reason why we’re all here! The short answer is that someone who is 15 years old right now would either be born in 2008 or 2007. It all depends on whether they’ve had their birthday yet this year or not.

If you are 15 years old today, you’d be born in 2008. If you haven’t had your birthday yet this year and are currently 15, they you were born in 2007. Later this year, you will turn 16.

Now, let me teach you how to find out when anyone was born without using a birthday calculator. It’s really easy!

The first and most important thing you need to know is if that person has had their birthday this year or not. If they have had their birthday, take the current year, subtract how old they are now, and you will have the year they were born in.

If they haven’t had their birthday yet this year, there is one thing you will need to do differently. Do the same thing you did before. Subtract how old they are from the current year, but then subtract one more year!

You have to subtract that extra year, because they haven’t had their birthday. That’s the only difference!

Finding Your Exact Age

You can find out exactly how old you are right now! Crazy right?! Let me teach you how.

You can use these steps to find the exact age of a person. You could use it for anyone! It could be on any given date or even a future date. For this example, I will help you find YOUR exact age.

If You’ve Had Your Birthday This Year

First, take the year it is now and subtract the year you were born. That will give you the number of years you’ve been alive!

Next, count how many full months it is from the month you were born until you get to the current month it is today. Last, count how many days it is until you get to today’s date. Now you know exactly how old you are!

Just in case that didn’t make sense, let me give you an example.

Let’s say the current date is June 10, 2022. You were born January 5, 1998. So, 2023 (current year) subtract 1998 (birth year) is 25 years.

Then, January 5 to June 5 is 5 months. Lastly, day 5 to day 10 is 5 days.

The answer and exact age would be 25 years 5 months and 5 days old.

If You Haven’t Had Your Birthday This Year

First, take the year it is now and subtract the year you were born just like we did before. That will give you how many years you’ve been alive!

Next, count how many full months it is from your birth date until you get to the current month it is today. Last, count how many days it is until you get to today’s date. Now you know exactly how old you are today!

If that didn’t make sense, here’s an example.

Let’s say the current date is June 20, 2023. You were born July 15, 1998. So, 2023 (current year) subtract 1998 (birth year) is 25 years. Next, July 15 to June 15 is 11 months. Then, June 15 to July 20 is 5 days.

Their exact age would be 25 years 11 months and 5 days old.

The bottom line is you if you are 15 years old, you were either born in 2007 or 2008. If you are 15 years old today, you’d be born in 2008.
