I’m still adding to my Grinch recipe series. Today, I have the Grinch easy cupcake recipe. I know this would be great for anyone but I can really see kiddos being especially drawn to these fun cupcakes. The green icing color of the grinch cupcakes will be what draws the kiddos to these cupcakes.

This is a very SIMPLE CUPCAKE recipe. You will use your own cupcake recipe (so you won’t have to learn a new one) and your own icing recipe too. Without a doubt, the greatest thing about The Grinch cupcakes is the hearts that you will make for the topping.

The Grinch Easy Cupcake Recipe

Yield: 24 cupcakes

This simple to make Grinch cupcake will be a crowd-pleaser ~ The heart decorations set it off!

Ingredients

  • 24 cupcakes - use your recipe, boxed mix, or premade cupcakes
  • 2-3 cups white frosting - use your recipe or canned frosting
  • 3 oz red candy melts
  • Yellow and green food coloring
  • Frosting piping bags
  • Wilton 1A and Wilton 2 icing/frosting tips

Instructions

First, Place the Wilton 2 icing tip in a piping bag and snip the end off with scissors.

Second, Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Third, Place your candy melts in a microwave-safe and heat for 30 seconds. Remove and stir. If not completely melted, heat for an additional 10 seconds and stir well, repeating until melted.

Fourth, Pour candy into a piping bag, and use it to draw hearts on the parchment paper, then squiggle lines to fill in the heart. Make 24 hearts, about 1 inch in diameter. Refrigerate to set.

Next, Add frosting to a bowl and add food coloring, a 2:1 ratio of yellow to green. For this recipe, I used 2 cups of frosting with 8 drops of yellow food coloring, and 4 drops of green food coloring.

Now, Place the Wilton 1A frosting tip in a piping bag and snip the end off with scissors. Add the frosting.

At this time, Pipe frosting onto the cupcakes, starting in the middle, moving towards the edge, then circling clockwise around the cupcake, then again, and then into the middle.

Finally, Remove hearts from the refrigerator and place one on each cupcake.
