How To Make Your Love For Cricut Into A Side Hustle

Let’s face it. Things are changing if we want them to or not. One thing I am a firm believer in is that you should have some kind of side hustle. Today I want to share with you my own story of how to make your love for Cricut into a side hustle. I am not saying that I do this full-time because I simply don’t, but I do help to provide extra income for my family each month.

Cricut is relatively new to me for 2020 and once COVID hit, I sat here on my bum. I didn’t know what to do honestly. The blogging arena shut down, everyone was out of work. Once the Cricut Joy and Cricut Maker came into my life I decided it was time to act.
As most of you know I am losing the use of my hands, which is super scary for me, but being able to do little crafts that bring some beauty to people’s homes brings me so much joy. For me a side hustle is not just about money, its about bringing yourself joy and fulfillment.
I have been selling my crafts locally and by request from readers since April of 2020. I think I take more requests than I do anything. I love trying to make everyones dream project a reality that is affordable.
When it comes to my projects usually, 97% of the time they are home decor projects. I have a huge passion for home decor and love making items that clients want in their homes. I have always had a passion for decor but never realized how much I enjoyed it till I started making super simple crafts that made a huge splash online.
What Cricut Machines I Use….
So I usually get one question from everyone and that is which machines I use for my crafting. Mostly, honestly,I use my Cricut Joy. The Joy is just so functional and easy to use with the smart vinyl. Making all sorts of projects a breeze.
As an example a pantry sign for a recent customer. For this sign, I used the Joy because it is an efficient and an effective method for crafting the lettering. Most of the projects that I do for customers are in the “Rae Dunn” style so the lettering is skinny. The Joy cuts this skinny font perfectly and it is so easy to weave.
When I do my pantry and laundry room signs as well as others, I actually offer a bow subscription as well. Each season my clients get a new bow to add to the signs they already have. When a new sign ships out I am so happy! I never can wait to get it into the mail and I also like to include a little note from me to my customer. Again I use the Joy to make the note as well. These are a great way to keep customers coming back. They know you care.
The other machine that I use is the Maker. This machine is much larger and great for bigger projects that I might do. The one thing that I do use this machine for is cutting wood when I need it for a wreath or another project.
Cricut championed me into becoming an entrepreneur because it has given me the tools that I need to make anything my little heart might desire. The equipment (The Joy & Maker) are both priced perfectly and the materials they offer help me keep my cost down, while still making money for my time.
Being able to use the Cricut Joy and Maker to create beautiful crafts is truly a blessing when it comes to a side-hustle. When I create a craft like I said they are mostly home decor related so I have a personal connection with each of them. They give me so much joy when I sent them out to my customer! I know that I am bringing a little bit of not only myself into their home but I am also giving them a chance to really customize their home to their liking.
